Risca United Youth Update
Risca United Youth followed the seniors 6-1 win on Saturday with a 5-0 demolition of Newport Civil Service. This was their 2nd win in the Macwhirter League Cup Group A and puts the young Cuckoos into 2nd place, which if they can maintain will be good enough to reach the Quater-Finals.
With two games left the youth team will need to win both games to be certain of going through. Next week they play Caerleon at Cold Bath Lane and the following week play Newport YMCA at home, in what could decide who goes into the quarter finals with Cwmbran Celtic, but first up we must beat Caerleon next Sunday.
On Sunday the young Cuckoos made heavy weather of things in the first half going 1-0 up through a Robbie Bainton penalty. The second half saw four goals added without reply through a wonder strike from Man of the Match Tom Pratt, an own goal, Luke Powell and a twice taken penalty from Jerome Samuels. Jonathan Smith and Mark Mears are very pleased with the form so far .

Items from Players Meeting on 23rd August
It was agreed that subs should be paid at £3.00 per week whether there is a game or not. Discounts will be made for players wishing to pay up front either yearly, half yearly or quarter yearly. Allowance will be made for players with a long-term injury, such as a broken leg.
This years tour was also discussed and the players will be voting for a players council who will make the arrangements.
The Annual Presentation was also mentioned and it was agreed that this should be held outside of Risca.
There will be a further players meeting on the 5th of September to discuss both the tour and the presentation night in more detail.
Finally, players fines were discussed and it was agreed that all fines should be paid by the players and not covered by the club. Letters regarding outstanding fines from last season will be given to players concerned shortly and arrangements will need to be made for payment.
